Abstract

Throughout the 1970s, several jurisdictions in the United States outlawed discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation. At the same time, a major shift regarding policy in LBGT (Lesbian Bisexual Gay Transgender) issues occurred. On one side there were advocacy groups that sought to formalize the protection of homosexuals against discrimination in housing and employment.286 There were equally vocal arguments from those who opposed these anti-discriminatory laws, sometimes resulting in their repeal.
